Community Café: Mental Health

Community Café at International House Odense introduces municipal Odense — where to find help, and how to access information about social activities and the practical aspects of everyday life in the city.

Our goal is to help you make the most of the many services available to you as a citizen of Odense.

At Community Café, we’re all about social connection and getting to know the community around us. There’s so much we can learn from our community, and with a central venue like Borgernes Hus, it couldn’t be easier to add fresh insights and friendly conversations to your day.

Maybe you’re curious about your local community too? We invite both Danes and internationals in Odense to drop by Borgernes Hus to further your knowledge about the city and meet others who call Odense home.

Community Café is a monthly recurring event, and each session has its own theme.

This month’s theme (January): Mental Health.
Cold, wet, and dark — January in Denmark can be a challenging time of year for everyone in a number of ways. As such, it's a good time to learn where to get help if you’re struggling, and maybe get some tips from locals on how to best get through the winter season.

We have invited Mental Hygge Odense, which is a volunteer initiative started by local internationals: Raul Carballo-Rubio, Edwin Avila, Luisa Pinna and Klara Selšek. Klara will join and give us an introduction to Mental Hygge Odense and unfold how you can contribute to and benefit from this initiative.

We have also invited the Center for Mental Health, which is a part of the City of Odense. The Center for Mental Health offers open, anonymous counselling for anyone who is struggling. They have extensive knowledge about the mental health services available in Odense and can help guide you to the options that are right for you.

We hope you will join us in support of this new event series by International House Odense, and we look forward to welcoming you!
